In 1994, Innovative Insurance Solutions started as an independent insurance agency by servicing the retirement plan needs of employees of municipalities and school districts. During the 2008 financial crisis and the three years following, the office recognized the emerging trend toward multi-dimensional planning. Thus began the journey toward developing the experience and credentials to advise clients in all areas of financial planning to include investments, insurance and retirement planning.
In 2006 and 2009 respectively, brothers David Hanson and Carl Hanson joined the office and began leading the transition away from representing manufacturers of financial products by creating an independently managed investment and financial planning firm representing the client. The firm changed its name in 2011 to IIS Financial Services to reflect the broadened comprehensive financial planning approach they offer to clients.
In 2012, David and Carl recognized that the financial planning profession was rapidly becoming more complicated and their growing clientele were becoming more sophisticated. Subsequently, they prepared for the future by organizing areas of specialties within the firm, implementing new technology, providing fee based options for financial planning strategies, as well as expanding their office space in Portland and Augusta, Maine.
